1. Giáo án Tiếng Anh lớp 5 WEEK 28TH Monday, March 29th 2021 Period 107: Unit 16: Where’s the post office? Lesson 1 - Period 2 4.Listen and tick. 5.Look and write. 6.Let’s sing. A. Objectives I. Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to further practise in asking and answering questions about directions, by doing a listening and a reading task. II. Language focus Sentence patterns: Excuse me, Where’s the ..? It’s . . III. Resources: book (page 41), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. I. Warm up - Greeting. - Ss act out the sory in Activity 1. II. Listen and tick Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 41. Tell Ss that they are going to listen to the recording and tick the boxes. Ask them to read the text in the table.Check their understanding. Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen, as they look closely at the pictures in their books. Play the recording again for Ss to listen and tick correct boxes. Replay the recording for ss to check their answers. Have ss trade their answer in groups for correction. Keys: The museum: Next to the stadium. The supermarket: Go along the street and turn left. The busstop: Opposite the pharmacy. The post office: Between the post office and the cinema. III. Look and write. Ask Ss to open their books on page 41. Tell Ss that they are going to look at a map and fill im the gapped sentences with: between, on the corner, opposite and next to. Give Ss a few seconds to read the text and asks them to fill in the gaps with the words given. Give time to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Have them swap their answers and correct them in group before checking as a class. Key: 1.opposite. 2.between 3.on the corner 4.opposite 5.next to IV. Have ss point to the words while they are repeating. Have Ss repeat each line of the song, the other clap the rhythm. Repeat the step, but this time have ss swap their parts. Ss practise singing and doing the actions in groups, Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary. Call on some groups to perform the song at the front of the class. Lesson 2 - Period 3 1.Look, listen and repeat. 2.Point and say. 3.Let’s talk. A. Objectives I. Aims: By the end of the period, pupils will be able to ask and answer questions about means of transport, using How can I get to ..? You can . II. Language focus Sentence patterns: How can I can get to the zoo? You can take a bus. Vocabulary: entrance, take a coach, take a boat. III. Resources: book (page 42), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I. Warm up - Greeting. - Show the pictures for Ss to ask and answer questions about directions. II. Look, listen and repeat Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 42. Focus their attention on the pictures and ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. Point to each picture and ask: who is this? Tell ss that they are going to listen to the dialogue between Tony and his friends who he meets on the ways to go to some places. Use a poster and two puppets to present the situation. Play the recording again all the way through for ss to listen. Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line in the speech bubbles as they point to it. Have one ss repeat Tony’s part, and the other friends’ part. Repeat the step, but this time have the group swap their parts. Have the whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation. III. Point, ask and answer: Have ss look at the pictures in their books on page 42 elicit the characters and run through the pictures then say: We are going to practice asking and answering questions about how to find the way. Repeat the step with some other pairs for the rest pictures Have ss practise using the pictures in their books. Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary. Call on some perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. IV. Reinforcement: T shows all the pictures for ss to talk about how to get to some places. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tuesday, March 30th 2021 Period 109: Unit 16: Where’s the post office? Lesson 2 - Period 4 4.Listen and write one word in each box. 5.Read and complete. Then say aloud. 6.Let’s play. A. Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to further practise asking and answering questions about means of transport by doing a listening and writing task. II.Language focus . Review III.Resources: book (page 43), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting - Ss talk about how to get to some places. II.Listen and write one word in each box Tell the class that they are going to listen and write one word in each box. Ask them to look at the pictures and identify the means of transport. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Play it again for them to do the task. Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. Play the recording a third time for them to listen again, if necessary. Keys: 1.boat, 2.taxi, 3.coach, 4.plane. III. Read and complete. Then say aloud. Tell the class that they are going to read the text and fill the gapped sentences. Have them read the dialogue and check their understanding. Set a time limit for them to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Get them to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. If there is enough time, have the class read the answers aloud. Explain how to playthe game. Materials: Two identical street maps but having places with different missing names. Ss play in pairs to take turns to ask and answer questions about the missing names. Lesson 3 - Period 5 1.Listen and repeat. 2.Listen and mark the sentences intonation. 3.Let’s chant. A. Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to say questions and answers with the correct intonation and do the listening task. II.Language focus Sentence patterns and vocabulary: Review. III.Resources: book (page 44), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting. - Ss play the game: Giving Direction. II. Listen and repeat Tell the class that they are going to practise saying questions and answers with falling intonation. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat the sentences twice. Get some of them to perform the activity in front of the class. Correct the pronunciation if necessary. *Note: Wh-questions usually have a falling intonation, which can be marked with an arrow like this at the end. III. Listen and circle a or b. Then ask and answer. Tell the class that they are going to listen to the recording and circle a or b. Give pupils a few seconds to read the sentences in silence before playing the recording for them to do the task. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Then play it again for them to circle the answers. Get Ss to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. Ask them to read the sentences aloud. Keys: 1.b, 2.b, 3.a. IV.Let’s chant. Then play it again for them to repeat each line. Have them practise the chant and do actions in groups. Invite two groups to say the chant and do actions. One group says the questions and gives advice. The other gives the answers.
