1. Giáo án Tiếng Anh lớp 5 WEEK 23rd Monday, February 22nd 2021 Period 87: Unit 13: What do you do in your free time? Lesson 3 - Period 5 1.Listen and repeat. 2.Listen and circle. 3.Let’s chant. A. Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to say questions and answers with the correct intonation and perform the chant well. II.Language focus Sentence patterns and vocabulary: Review. III.Resources: book (page 22), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting. - Ss sing the song: What do you do in your free time? II. Listen and repeat Tell the class that they are going to practise saying questions and answers with the correct intonation. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat the sentences twice. Get some of them to perform the activity in front of the class. Correct the pronunciation if necessary. *Note: Wh-questions usually have a falling intonation, which can be marked with an arrow like this at the end. III. Listen and cirle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud. Tell the class that they are going to listen and circle a or b to complete the sentences. Give pupils a few seconds to read the sentences in silence before playing the recording for them to do the task. Get pupils to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. Tell them to ask and answer the questions in pairs. Keys: 1.a, 2.a, 3.b, 4.a IV.Let’s chant Tell the class that they are going to say the chant What do you do? Have them read it and check their comprehension. Play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat each line. Have them practise the chant and do actions in groups. Invite two groups to say the chant and do actions. One group says the questions and gives advice. The other gives the answers. . Aim By the end of the period, pupils will be able to develop their reading and writing skills and do the project well. II. Language focus Sentences patterns: Review. III. Resources student book (page 22), flash cards, posters, recordings. B. Procedures I. Warm up Ss recite the chant: What do you do? II.Read and draw lines to match Tell the class that they are going to read the text and draw lines to match the people with the things. Explaining the meaning of the new words: camp, forest, go hiking and return. Get them the time to read the text and check their comprehension. Ask Ss to work in pairs or small groups. Give them the time to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. Keys: 1.c 2.a 3.b. III. Write about what your family do at weekends. Tell the class that they are going to write about what their family do at weekends. Have them the time to read the gapped sentences and think about what their family usually do at weekends. Give Ss time to do the task independently.Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Get them to swap their answers and then read their advice aloud. Key: Answer vary. IV. Project Tell Ss that they are going to interview two of their classmates about what they do in their freetime. Tuesday, February 23rd 2021 Period 89: Unit 14: What happened in the story? Lesson 1 - Period 1 1.Look, listen and repeat. 2.Point and say. 3.Let’s talk. A. Objectives I. Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about what happened in a story, using What happened in the story?First/Then,/Next,/In the end, ... II. Language focus Sentence patterns: What happened in the story?First/Then,/Next,/In the end, Vocabulary: ordered, found, grew, heard, exchanged, happened. III. Resources: book (page 24), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I. Warm up - Greeting. - Play a game: Brainstorms. Alladin and the Magic lamp Tam Cam Favourite stories I. Pre- task Ask them to look at the four pictures on page 24 to identify the context in which the language is used. Ask questions such as Who are they? Where are they? And What are they talking about? Help them to identify that Phong and Linda are at home eating watermelon and talking bout the Story of Mai An Tiem. Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for pupils to listen and reapeat. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. III. While - task Tell pupils that they are going to ask and answer questions about what happened in a story, using What happened in the story?First/Then,/Next,/In the end, ... Have them look at the bubbles and the pictures to understand how the language is used. Ask them to look at the pictures to repeat the sentences once or twice. Ask pupils to practise in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the phrases under the pictures. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Select some pairs to demonstrate the task in front of the class. Ss further practise by asking and answering questions about what happened in a story: The Story of Mai An Tiem. Ask them to work in pairs and use the sentences in their books. IV.Post - task T asks Ss about what they have leanrt in their lesson today. T analysises the language focus: ask and answer questions about what happened in a story, using What happened in the story?First/Then,/Next,/In the end, ... Vocabulary: ordered, found, grew, heard, exchanged, happened. Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to further practise in asking and answering questions about about what happened in a story, by doing a listening and a reading task. II. Language focus Sentence patterns: What happened in the story?First/Then,/Next,/In the end, Vocabulary: ordered, found, grew, heard, exchanged, happened. III. Resources: book (page 25), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. I. Warm up - Greeting. - Ss retell the story of Mai An Tiem. II. Listen and tick Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 25. Tell Ss that they are going to listen to the recording and number the correct pictures. Ask them to look at the pictures and focus on the order of the events.Check their understanding. Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen, as they look closely at the pictures in their books. Play the recording again for ss to listen and number correct pictures. Give Ss a few seconds to read the text. Remind them to focus on the context to select the appropriate words from the box. Give time to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Have them swap their answers and correct them in group before checking as a class. Key: 1.princess, 2.leg, 3.apple, 4.got up 5.In the end. IV. Let’s sing Tell ss that they are going to sing a new song “Once upon a time ..” Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen while they are reading the song. Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line of the rhyme. Have ss point to the words while they are repeating. Have Ss repeat each line of the song, the other clap the rhythm. Repeat the step, but this time have ss swap their parts. Ss practise singing and doing the actions in groups, Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary. Call on some groups to perform the song at the front of the class.
