Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to further practise asking and answering questions about someone’s opinion by doing a listening and reading task. II.Language focus . Review III.Resources: book (page 61), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting - Ss act out the story in Activity 1. II. Listen and circle a or b. Tell the class that they are going to listen and circle a or b. Ask Ss to guess the words to fill the gaps. Play the recording all the ways through for pupils to listen. Play it again for them to do the task. Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. Play the recording a third time for them to listen again, if necessary. Keys: 1.b, 2.b, 3.a. III.Read and complete. Tell the class that they are going to read and complete the conversation betwwen Nam and Tom.Have them to read the words given and incomplete conversation. Give Ss time to do the task independently.Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Get them to swap their answers and then read their answers aloud. Keys: 1. Can Tho 2.exciting 3.delicious 4.friendly 5.again. IV.Let’s play Tell Ss that they are going to play the game: Tic - tac - toe. Explain how to play the game. Put a Tic - tac – toe grid on the board. Write an incomplete sentences in each of the boxes. (Eg. What do you think .? The pagoda is more .)Set a time limit for the class to play the game in pairs. They have to complete the sentence in order to mark a box with an X or O. When time is over, invite a few students to read their sentences aloud and put them on the board. Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to say questions and answers with the correct intonation and do the listening task. II.Language focus Sentence patterns and vocabulary: Review. III.Resources: book (page 62), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting. - Ss play the Game Tic - tac - toe II. Listen and repeat Tell the class that they are going to practise saying questions and answers. Tell them to pay attention to the intonation of the sentences. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat the sentences twice. Get some of them to perform the activity in front of the class. Correct the pronunciation if necessary. III. Listen and mark the sentence intonation. Tell the class that they are going to listen to the recording and mark the sentence intonation. Give Ss a few seconds to read the sentences in silence before playing the recording for them to do the task. Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen. Then play it again for them to mark the sentence intonation. Get Ss to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. Ask them to read the sentences aloud. Keys: IV.Let’s chant. Tell the class that they are going to say the chant “What do you think of it?” Have them read it and check their comprehension. Play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat each line. Have them practise the chant and do actions in groups. Invite two groups to say the chant and do actions. One group says the questions and gives advice. The other gives the answers. Warm up Greeting Ss recite the chant: “What do you think of it?” II.Read and do the tasks 1. Complete the passage. Tell the class that they are going to read the text and complete the gapped passage with the words from the box: beautiful, friends, pagoda, centre, a lot of. Give them the time to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. Keys: 1.pagoda, 2.centre, 3.beautiful, 4. a lot of 5.friends. 2. Answer the questions Tell Ss that they are going to read the text again and answer the questions. Ask Ss to read the questions. Give them the time to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. Keys: 1/ Tom visited it yesterday. 2/ It’s on an island in the middle of West Lake . 3/ It’s more beautiful than he expected. 4/ They learn more about the history of Ha Noi after the visit. II. Write about your last summer holiday. Tell the class that they are going to write about their last summer holiday. Ask them to discuss with their friends about summer holidays. Project Tell the class that they are going to find a picture of their favourite place, show them to the class and talk about it. Ask Ss to work in groups of five. They should choose five places and discuss what to talk about. They can use more than one picture for each place if they want. Aims: By the end of the period, Ss will be able to ask and answer questions to compare places, using Which one is ., .or ? I think ... II. Language focus Sentence patterns: Which one is ., .or ? I think .... Vocabulary: busy, noisy. III. Resources: book (page 64), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I. Warm up - Greeting. - Ss show the pictures about the country and the city. II. Look, listen and repeat Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 60. Focus their attention on the pictures and ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. Point to each picture and ask: who is this? Tell ss that they are going to listen to the dialogue between Tom and Linda. They are at home. They talk about the visit to Tran Quoc pagoda. Use a poster and two puppets to present the situation. Play the recording again all the way through for ss to listen. Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line in the speech bubbles as they point to it. Have one ss repeat Nam’s part, and Peter’s part. Repeat the step, but this time have the group swap their parts. Have the whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation. III. Point, ask and answer: Have ss look at the pictures in their books on page 60, run through the pictures then say: We are going to practice asking and answering questions about someone’s opinion, using What do you think of .?It’s more ..than I expected. Model the task with the whole class: Point to picture a and ask: What do you think of Ha Long Bay? Ss answer: It’s more atractive than I expected. Repeat the step with some other pairs for the rest pictures Have ss practise using the pictures in their books. Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary. Call on some perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. IV. Warm up - Greeting. - Ss act out the story in activity 1. II. Listen and circle a or b. Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 65. Tell Ss that they are going to listen to the recording and write one word in each gap. Ask them to look at the sentences and guess the words to fill in the gaps.Check their understanding. Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen, as they look closely at the pictures in their books. Play the recording again for Ss to listen and tick correct boxes. Replay the recording for ss to check their answers. Have ss trade their answer in groups for correction. Keys: 1.Sydney, noisier, 2.London, larger, 3.New York, busier. III. Read and complete. Ask Ss to open their books on page 65. Tell Ss that they are going to read and complete the sentences to compare cities. Give Ss a few seconds to read the sentences and guess the words to fill in.
