1. Giáo án Tiếng Anh lớp 5 WEEK 24TH Monday, March 1st 2021 Period 91: Unit 14: What happened in the story? Lesson 2 - Period 3 1.Look, listen and repeat. 2.Point and say. 3.Let’s talk. A. Objectives I. Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about someone’s opinions of a book/story/character, using What do you think of ..?I think . II. Language focus Sentence patterns: What do you think of ..? I think .. Vocabulary: greedy, intelligent, hard - working, kind. III. Resources: book (page 26), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I. Warm up - Greeting. - Ss sing the song: “Once upon a time ..” I. Pre- task Ask them to look at the four pictures on page 26 to identify the context in which the language is used. Ask questions such as Who are they? Where are they? And What are they talking about? Help them to identify that Quan and Linda are in the park. Linda tell Quan what she thinks of the characters and the story “The Golden Star fruit Tree” Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for pupils to listen and reapeat. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. Check their understanding of the story. III. While - task Tell pupils that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about characters stories, using What do you think of ..?I think . Have them look at the bubbles and the pictures to understand how the language is used. Ask them to look at the pictures to repeat the adjectives under the pictures: intelligent, hard – working, greedy and kind. Point to the first picture and model the task with one pupil, using the bubbles and the adjective under the picture. Teacher: What do you think of the mouse? And Ss answer: I think the mouse is intelligent. . Ask Ss to practise in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the adjectives under the pictures. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Select some pairs to demonstrate the task in front of the class. Ss further practise by asking and answering questions about a book, a story, or a character. Ask them to work in pairs and use the questions and answers in their books. Năm học 2019 - 2020 1

Lesson 2 - Period 4 4.Listen and tick. 5.Write about your favourite book. 6.Let’s play. A. Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to further practise asking and answering questions about someone’s opinions of a book/story/character by doing a listening and writing task. II.Language focus Sentence patterns: What do you think of ..? I think .. Vocabulary: greedy, intelligent, hard - working, kind III.Resources: book (page 27), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting - Ss express their opinions about the stories, characters they like. II.Listen and tick Tell the class that they are going to listen and tick the tick the correct pictures. Ask them to read the sentences and try to guess the word to fill each gap. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Play it again for them to do the task. Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. Play the recording a third time for them to listen again, if necessary. Keys: 1.c, 2.a, 3.a III.Write about your favourite book. Tell the class that they are going to write about their favourite books. Have them read the questions and check their understanding. Set a time limit for them to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Get them to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. If there is enough time, have the class read the completed writing aloud. 3. Giáo án Tiếng Anh lớp 5 Devide the class into 2 Teams. Give each team sheets with the same set of phrases from a story. Each member of the teams should have one sheet. Say a sentence from the story. Ss with the phrases should line up to form the sentence. (Eg. One day, King Hung got angry with Mai An Tiem) The first team that shows the correct sentence wins a point. The game continues until the teacher finishes the story. The team which has the most points. The team which has the most win the game. This is a funny way for Ss to practice their English in a competitive way. Lesson 3 - Period 5 1.Listen and repeat. 2.Listen and circle. 3.Listen to the story. A. Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to say questions and answers with the correct intonation and do the listening task. II.Language focus Sentence patterns and vocabulary: Review. III.Resources: book (page 28), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting. - Ss play Storytelling. II. Listen and repeat Tell the class that they are going to practise saying questions and answers with the correct intonation. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat the sentences twice. Get some of them to perform the activity in front of the class. Correct the pronunciation if necessary. *Note: Wh-questions usually have a falling intonation, which can be marked with an arrow like this at the end. III. Listen and cirle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud. Tell the class that they are going to listen and circle a or b to complete the sentences. Give pupils a few seconds to read the sentences in silence before playing the recording for them to do the task. Get pupils to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. Tell them to ask and answer the questions in pairs. Keys: 1.b, 2.b, 3.a, 4.a IV.Listen to the story. Then play it again for them to repeat each line. Have them practise telling the story. . Lesson 3 - Period 6 4.Read and write. 5.Write about the characters in your favourite story. 6.Project. A. Objectives I. Aim By the end of the period, pupils will be able to develop their reading and writing skills and do the project well. II. Language focus Sentences patterns: Review. III. Resources student book (page 29), flash cards, posters, recordings. B. Procedures I. Warm up Ss retell the story: The Fox and the Crow II.Read and write Tell the class that they are going to read the text and answer the questions. Explaining the meaning of unfamiliar words and get Ss to read the questions and underline the key words in the passage. Get them the time to read the text and check their comprehension. Ask Ss to work in pairs or small groups. Give them the time to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. Keys: 1.She likes reading folk tales. 2.She thinks they are usually short and interesting. 3.She thinks the characters are sometimes honest, sometimes greedy, sometimes wise, sometimes stupid. 4.She thinks the fox was clever and the crow was not. 5.Because each of them gives her a lesson in life. III. Write about the characters in your favourite story. Tell the class that they are going to write about what the characters in their favourite story. Have them the time to work in pairs or groups to decide on a story and discuss what they are going to write. Have them the time to work in pairs or groups to decide which to tell the class and what they think of characters. Set a time limit for them to discuss and write notes. Select two or three groups to tell the stories and their opinions on the characters.
