Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to further practise asking and answering questions about the quantity of food and drink by doing a listening and reading task. II.Language focus . Review III.Resources: book (page 49), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting - Ss talk about how to get to some places. II.Listen and circle a, b, or c. Tell the class that they are going to listen and circle a, b or c. Ask them to look at sentences and the answers given. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Play it again for them to do the task. Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. Play the recording a third time for them to listen again, if necessary. Keys: 1.a, 2.c, 3.b, 4.a. III. Read and complete. Tell the class that they are going to read the text and fill the gapped sentences with the words given: milk, How much, shouldn’t, healthy, how many. Have them read the dialogue and check their understanding. Set a time limit for them to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Get them to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. If there is enough time, have the class read the answers aloud. Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to say questions and answers with the correct intonation and do the listening task. II.Language focus Sentence patterns and vocabulary: Review. III.Resources: book (page 50), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting. - Ss talk about “Labelling Food and Drink”. II. Listen and repeat Tell the class that they are going to practise saying questions and answers with falling intonation. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat the sentences twice. Get some of them to perform the activity in front of the class. Correct the pronunciation if necessary. *Note: Wh-questions usually have a falling intonation, which can be marked with an arrow like this at the end. III. Listen and circle a or b. Tell the class that they are going to listen to the recording and circle a or b. Give pupils a few seconds to read the sentences in silence before playing the recording for them to do the task. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Then play it again for them to circle the answers. Get Ss to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. Ask them to read the sentences aloud. Keys: 1.a, 2.b, 3.a, 4.a. IV.Let’s chant. Tell the class that they are going to say the chant “Healthy food and drink” Have them read it and check their comprehension. Play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat each line. Have them practise the chant and do actions in groups. Invite two groups to say the chant and do actions. One group says the questions and gives advice. The other gives the answers. Warm up Greeting Ss recite the chant: “Healthy food and drink” II.Read and do the tasks 1. Match the headings with the paragraphs. Tell the class that they are going to read the paragraphs and match them with the headings. Get them to read three paragraphs and headings and then check their comprehension. Explaining the meaning of unfamiliar words. Give them the time to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. Keys: 1.b, 2.c, 3.a. 2. Answer the questions Tell Ss that they are going to read the passage again and answer the questions. Ask Ss to read the questions. Give them the time to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. Keys: 1/ We should have some oranges and apple juice. 2/ She should drink a lot of water between meals. 3/ Because vegetables have vitamins. We need vitamins for a healthy body. 4/Because it has a lot of fat and sugar. 5/We should eat rice, bread and lots of vegetables and fruits. We also need some meat, fish or eggs. II. Write about your eating habits. Tell the class that they are going to write their eating habits. Give Ss time to do the task independently.Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Get them to swap their answers and then read their answers aloud. Key: Answers vary. IV. Project Tell the class that they are going to work in groups and write words for food and drink into the appropriate groups: very healthy and not very healthy Get Ss to work in groups to discuss which food and drinks belong to which groups. Aims: By the end of the period, Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about weather forecast, using What will the weather be like tomorrow? It will be .and .. II. Language focus Sentence patterns: What will the weather be like tomorrow? It will be .and .. Vocabulary: foggy, stormy, cold, hot, cool, warm. III. Resources: book (page 52), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I. Warm up - Greeting. - Ss talk about healthy or not healthy food and drink II. Look, listen and repeat Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 52. Focus their attention on the pictures and ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. Point to each picture and ask: who is this? Tell ss that Linda is watching the weather forecast on TV. Use a poster and two puppets to present the situation. Play the recording again all the way through for ss to listen. Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line in the speech bubbles as they point to it. Have one ss repeat Lady’s part. Repeat the step, but this time have the group swap their parts. Have the whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation. III. Point, ask and answer: Have Ss look at the pictures in their books on page 52 elicit the characters and run through the pictures then say: We are going to practice asking and answering questions about the weather, usingWhat will the weather be like tomorrow? It will be .and .. Model the task with the whole class: Point to picture a and ask: What will the weather be like tomorrow? Ss answer: It will be cold and snowy. Repeat the step with some other pairs for the rest pictures Have ss practise using the pictures in their books. Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary.
