1. Giáo án Tiếng Anh lớp 5 WEEK 25TH Monday, March 8th 2021 Period 95: Unit 15: What would you like tobe in the future? Lesson 1 - Period 1 1.Look, listen and repeat. 2.Point and say. 3.Let’s talk. A. Objectives I. Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about what someone would like tobe in the future, using What would you like tobe in the future? I’d like tobe a/an .. II. Language focus Sentence patterns: What would you like tobe in the future? I’d like tobe a/an .. Vocabulary: pilot, architect, writer, height, scared of. III. Resources: book (page 30), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I. Warm up - Greeting. - Play a game: Brainstorms. teacher doctor Jobs engineer I. Pre- task Ask them to look at the four pictures on page 30 to identify the context in which the language is used. Ask questions such as Who are they? Where are they? And What are they talking about? Help them to identify that Phong and Linda are in the school gym talking about Tony’s future job. Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for pupils to listen and reapeat. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. III. While - task Tell pupils that they are going to ask and answer questions about their future jobs, using What would you like tobe in the future? I’d like to be a/an . Have them look at the bubbles and the pictures to understand how the language is used. Ask them to look at the pictures to repeat the words once or twice. Point to the first picture and model the task with one pupil, using the bubbles and the words under the picture. Teacher: What would you like tobe in the future? Ss answer: I’d like tobe a pilot. . Ask pupils to practise in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the phrases under the pictures. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Năm học 2019 - 2020 1

Ask them to work in pairs and use the sentences in their books. IV. Post - task T asks Ss about what they have leanrt in their lesson today. T analysises the language focus: ask and answer questions about what someone would like tobe in the future, using What would you like tobe in the future? I’d like tobe a/an .. Lesson 1 - Period 2 4.Listen and tick. 5.Look and write. 6.Let’s sing. A. Objectives I. Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to further practise in asking and answering questions about what someone would like tobe in the future, by doing a listening and a reading task. II. Language focus Sentence patterns: What would you like tobe in the future? I’d like tobe a/an .. Vocabulary: pilot, architect, writer, height, scared of. . III. Resources: book (page 31), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. I. Warm up - Greeting. - Ss talk about their future jobs. II. Listen and tick Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 31. Tell Ss that they are going to listen to the recording and tick the correct pictures. Ask them to look at the pictures and identify the jobs.Check their understanding. Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen, as they look closely at the pictures in their books. Play the recording again for Ss to listen and tick correct pictures. Replay the recording for ss to check their answers. Have ss trade their answer in groups for correction. Keys: 1.b, 2.a, 3.c. III. Look and write. Ask Ss to open their books on page 31. Tell Ss that they are going to write the answers to the questions. Give Ss a few seconds to read the questions and asks them to write the answers using the picture cues. Năm học 2019 - 2020 2

Have them swap their answers and correct them in group before checking as a class. Key: 1.I’d like to be a teacher. 2. She’d like to be a doctor. 3.They’d like tobe architects. IV. Let’s sing Tell ss that they are going to sing a new song “What would you like tobe in the future?.” Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen while they are reading the song. Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line of the rhyme. Have ss point to the words while they are repeating. Have Ss repeat each line of the song, the other clap the rhythm. Repeat the step, but this time have ss swap their parts. Ss practise singing and doing the actions in groups, Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary. Call on some groups to perform the song at the front of the class. Warm up - Greeting. - Ss sing the song: “What would you like tobe in the future?” I. Pre- task Ask them to look at the four pictures on page 32 to identify the context in which the language is used. Ask questions such as Who are they? What does Linda want to know? And What would Mai like tobe in the future?Why?What would Tony like tobe in the future?Why? Check Ss’comprehension. Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for pupils to listen and reapeat. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. Check their understanding of the story. Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to further practise asking for and giving reasons about future jobs by doing a listening and writing task. II.Language focus Sentence patterns: Why would you like tobe .? Because I’d like Vocabulary: look after patients, design buildings. III.Resources: book (page 33), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting - Ss express their opinions about the reasons for their future jobs. II.Listen and circle Tell the class that they are going to listen and circle a,b or c to complete the sentences. Ask them to read the sentences and try to guess the word to fill each gap. Read and complete Tell the class that they are going to read the text and fill the gapped sentences. Have them read the dialogue and check their understanding. Set a time limit for them to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Get them to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. If there is enough time, have the class read the answers aloud. Keys: 1.nurse 2.look after 3.hospital 4.do 5.write IV.Let’s play Tell Ss that they are going to play Pelmanism. Devide the class into small groups. Prepare two sheets of cards for each group, one with Jobs and the other with work places. One player in each group shuffles the cards and lays them face down on the table. Each player takes turn to select two cards and turn them over. If the card shows the job and the relevant work place, that player wins the pair and goes on to turn over another pair of cards. If the cards do not match, the player should turn them face down again and the next player has a turn. The game ends when all the cards are gone. The winner is the player with the most cards.
