OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to (SWBAT): 1. identify situation for conversation between teacher and students, Nam and his friends and name some jobs and family members. 2. use structures: “ What does your father( .) do? He/ She is .. “to ask and answer about family members’ jobs. 3. recognize the value of the different jobs and show the respect about jobs of family members and friends’ family members jobs. 4. share with partners about jobs of family members. B. Language focus: Key terms/ Vocabulary: Family members: brother, uncle, sister Jobs: Student, farmer, nurse, driver, factory worker. Question and answer intonation in conversation. Respect all jobs in life. STAGE 3: TEACHING PROCEDURE: Warmer: 4 minutes - Greet Ss: Hello,class. How are you today? - Get the class to sing the song “ Family Fingures” - How many family members are there in the song? (5) - Who are they? (dad, mum, brother, sister, baby) - T: “ Today we are going to learn unit 12: What does your father do? Lesson 1( 1,2,3)” Activity 1: Vocabulary: Quizlet – 6 minutes brother, uncle, sister, student, nurse, farmer, driver, factory worker Activity 2: Look, listen and repeat - 10 minutes - Show students the situational pictures and ask the following questions to help them understand the communication situations in each picture. 1. Who are they? (Ms Hien , Nam and his friends) 2. Where are they? (In the classroom) 3. How does Ms Hien start the conversation? ( “ Class, get into pairs, please!”) 4. What does Mai’ father do? (teacher). 5. What does Mai’ mother do? ( nurse). - Have students look at the book, listen, and repeat the lines in the picture twice. - Point at the pictures a, b, c, and d respectively to present the conversation. Explain what each character says. Check comprehension and give feedback. - Remind students to remember to use appropriate gestures and intonation in conversation. - Play the recording of Activity 1, pointing at each speech bubble for Ss to listen and repeat the sentence(s) twice. - Point at each bubble for Ss to read the sentence(s).

Activity 3: Controlled & guided practice Task 1: Controlled practice (Point and say) 7 minutes - Present the activity. Encourage Ss to talk about the meaning of the sentences in practice. Point at the group of words under each picture, check comprehension, and give feedback. Have Ss repeat each group twice. - Play the recording Activity 2 for Ss to repeat twice. - Interact with Ss to greet, ask and answer questions about “What does your father ( .) do? He/ She is ...”. - Get Ss to practise in pairs asking and answering questions about jobs of family members of their partners. - Ask Ss to work in pairs and says “Imagine you are Mai and Quan. Ask and answer “What does you ..do? - Call on some pairs to demonstrate their conversations in front of the class. - Give feedback and comments on each conversation and correct Ss’ mistakes if necessary. Task 2: Guided practice ( Survey) 6 minutes - Present the activity. Ask Ss’ to work in groups of 4. ( Using the same numbers to have the same group). Name Father Mother Thanh Doctor Teacher Mai Driver Nurse Nam Engineer Clerk - Have students ask and answer their group members to complete the table below by using sentence patterns “What does your father ( .) do? He/ She is ...”. - Call on one student from each group to report their friends’ family member job. Group 1’ leader: Thanh’ father is a doctor. And his mother is a teacher. Mai’ father is a driver. And her mother is a nurse. Nam’ father is an engineer. And his mother is a clerk. - Give feedback and comments on the reports and correct Ss’ mistakes if necessary. Wrap-up & Assignments - 2 minutes

(show their care about jobs of family members and friends’ family jobs. Respect all jobs in life by using appropriate gestures and intonation in conversation). - Remind students to do exercises Part A ,B in the workbook and to prepare for the next lesson (Unit 12, Lesson 1(3,4,5) p13 by review words about jobs of family members. -THE END-
