1. Giáo án Tiếng Anh lớp 5 WEEK 31st Monday, April 19th 2021 Period 119: Unit 18: What will the weather be like tomorrow? Lesson 1 - Period 2 4.Listen and circle. 5.Read and complete. 6.Let’s play. A. Objectives I. Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to further practise in asking and answering questions about the weather by doing a listening and a reading task. II. Language focus Sentence patterns: What will the weather be like tomorrow? It will be .and .. Vocabulary: foggy, stormy, cold, hot, cool, warm. III. Resources: book (page 53), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. I. Warm up - Greeting. - Ss ask and answer questions about the weather. II. Listen and tick Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 53. Tell Ss that they are going to listen to the recording and circle the correct answers. Ask them to look at the sentences and the answers given.Check their understanding. Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen, as they look closely at the pictures in their books. Play the recording again for Ss to listen and tick correct boxes. Replay the recording for ss to check their answers. Have ss trade their answer in groups for correction. Keys: 1.b, 2.a, 3.c. III. Read and complete. Ask Ss to open their books on page 53. Tell Ss that they are going to read the passage and fill in the gaps with: weather,watch, forecast, go and stormy Give Ss a few seconds to read the text and asks them to fill in the gaps with the words given. Give time to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Have them swap their answers and correct them in group before checking as a class. Key: 1.go. 2.weather 3.stormy 4.forecast 5.watch IV. Let’s play Tell ss that they are going to play Making Sentences. Explain how to play the game. Put Ss in groups of six. Aims: By the end of the period, Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about the seasons, using What’s .like in your country?It’s usually There is/are II. Language focus Sentence patterns: What’s .like in your country? It’s usually There is/are Vocabulary: Review III. Resources: book (page 54), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I. Warm up - Greeting. - Play the game: Bingo II. Look, listen and repeat Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 54. Focus their attention on the pictures and ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. Point to each picture and ask: who is this? Tell ss that they are going to listen to the dialogue between Nam and Peter. They are on the balcony. They talk about the summer weather in their countries. Use a poster and two puppets to present the situation. Play the recording again all the way through for ss to listen. Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line in the speech bubbles as they point to it. Have one ss repeat Nam’s part, and Peter’s part. Repeat the step, but this time have the group swap their parts. Have the whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation. III. Point, ask and answer: Have ss look at the pictures in their books on page 54, run through the pictures then say: We are going to practice asking and answering questions about seasons and weather, using What’s .like in your country?It’s usually There is/are Model the task with the whole class: Point to picture a and ask: What’s spring like in your country? Ss answer: It’s usually cold. There is a lot of wind. Repeat the step with some other pairs for the rest pictures Have ss practise using the pictures in their books. Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary. Call on some perform the task at the front of the class. Lesson 2 - Period 4 4.Listen and write one word. 5.Write about your favourite season and the weather. 6.Let’s sing. A. Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to further practise asking and answering questions about the seasons by doing a listening and writing task. II.Language focus . Review III.Resources: book (page 55), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting - Ss act out the story in Activity 1. II.Listen and write one word in each blank. Tell the class that they are going to listen and write one word in each blank. Ask Ss to guess the words to fill the gaps. Play the recording all the ways through for pupils to listen. Play it again for them to do the task. Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. Play the recording a third time for them to listen again, if necessary. Keys: 1.wind, 2.winter, 3.snow, 4.hot, 5.rain III.Write about your favourite season and the weather. Tell the class that they are going to write about your favourite season and the weather. Have them the time read the questions and check their understanding. Give Ss time to do the task independently.Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Get them to swap their answers and then read their answers aloud. Keys: Answers vary. IV.Let’s sing Tell ss that they are going to sing a new song “The weather song” Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen while they are reading the song. Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line of the rhythm Have ss point to the words while they are repeating. Have Ss repeat each line of the song, the other clap the rhythm. Repeat the step, but this time have ss swap their parts. Ss practise singing and doing the actions in groups, Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary. Lesson 3 - Period 5 1.Listen and repeat. 2.Listen and circle a or b. 3.Let’s chant. A. Objectives I.Aims: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to say questions and answers with the correct intonation and do the listening task. II.Language focus Sentence patterns and vocabulary: Review. III.Resources: book (page 56), CD player, cassette, cards, posters. B. Procedures I.Warm - up - Greeting. - Ss sing the song “The weather song” II. Listen and repeat Tell the class that they are going to practise saying questions and answers with falling intonation. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat the sentences twice. Get some of them to perform the activity in front of the class. Correct the pronunciation if necessary. *Note: Wh-questions usually have a falling intonation, which can be marked with an arrow like this at the end. III. Listen and circle a or b. Tell the class that they are going to listen to the recording and circle a or b. Give pupils a few seconds to read the sentences in silence before playing the recording for them to do the task. Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Then play it again for them to circle the answers. Get Ss to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. Ask them to read the sentences aloud. Keys: 1.a, 2.b, 3.a, 4.a. IV.Let’s chant. Tell the class that they are going to say the chant “What will the weather be like tomorrow?” Have them read it and check their comprehension. Play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books. Then play it again for them to repeat each line. Have them practise the chant and do actions in groups.
